Free parking is now imminent in Midland Free parking will be available in Midland starting tomorrow, barring unforeseen complications, says Bob Voorzanger, Jr. Midland __ Business Improvement Area's (BIA) validated parking program will start as soon as the ticket- spitters in the four downtown parking lots have been converted to the requirements of the program. The con- version is scheduled for today. Signs explaining the program will be put up in the parking lots, and signs and decals identifying participa- ting businesses will be distributed as soon as the ticket-spitters are converted, says the BIA parking committee chairman. The tickets may not be different than in the past. The only way first time users will know if the program is going is if the explanatory signs are visible in the lots and the signs and decals are on public view in store windows. Under the program, users of the three parking lots east of King Street and the single parking lot west of King Street can take one of their two parking tickets to any par- ticipating business and get a refund. The other ticket is left as usual in the car to prove a parking fee has - been paid.
