The Merchants, sparked by Carl Cowan's three goal output, cashed in on a 6- 4 victory. The win brings their record to 3- Dave Wright got two goals for Pen-Mid and Paul Balabuck added another. Frank But- tineau, Bryan Leth- bridge, Colin Restrup and Al Arbour replied for Graphics. In other Monday action in Penetang, Olympia Sports edged the Penetang Legion junior team 4-3. Paul Parent had two for Olympia and Robert Quesnelle scored twice for the Legion. Paul Mcintaggart and Dave McConkey rounded out the scoring for Olympia Sports. Michael Stone of Midland, riding in the Amateur Owner Division placed sixth on his thoroughbred gelding Baffles, Toni Lembo, riding Heidi Schafer's horse Pierre placed fifth out of a class of 57 riders in the Limit Penetang teams still deadlocked after G&C win Penetang CG & C are back in a two-way tie for first place in Ladies Intermediate Softball, following their 10-6 win over the Penetang Juveniles. The G & C victory leaves the team with a 9- 1 record, and four games left to go before the playoffs. Their win Wednesday evening at McGuire Park avenged their only loss two weeks ago to the same Juveniles. Michelle Lacroix went the full seven innings for G & C, striking out one batter. Nancy Bell took the loss for the Juveniles but pitched a strong game, fanning six batters. The Juveniles took a 6-4 second inning lead but couldn't bring across any more runs. They left four runners on base over seven innings. G & C had 11 hits, drew two walks and left three runners on base. They pulled away from the Juveniles in the top of the third with four runs. Donna Duval and Dale Butt smashed out home runs, Sandy Dubeau hit a triple and pitcher Michelle Lacroix singled. Cat- cher Dianne King drew a walk. The team added G & C won their eight game of the season, thumping Victoria Harbour Commodoras 17-3. The game was called after five innings because of the lop sided score.
