Stompers takeover division PENETANGUISHENE Cumming-Nicholson Stompers took over the Penetang-Midland Ball Hockey league Number division lead after a 9-3 stomping of E.G. Mink Insurance Sunday The win gives Stompers a one-point lead over Penetang IGA Strikers and Mink Charlie Dyer led Stompers with four goals and one assist. Rob Wice scored two goals, and singles were added by Tom Borsa, Jim Holden and Byron Webster Webster, Borsa, Steve Beatty and Jeff Attwood collected two assists each Ken Hamlin scored twice for Mink and assisted on the third Mink goal, scored by Ron French. French, Dave Mink and Gary Hamelin also collected assists Hawks 7, Bantus 2 Olympia Sports Hawks moved to within two points of the Letter division lead at the ex pense of bottom-place 3antus, who are now eliminated from a playoff pot Paul Robillard scored two goals and added two assists to lead Hawks to their 7-2 victoriy. Leitz will then enter the league playoffs, which involves two round-robin series' between the top four and bottom four teams Raider PENETANGUISHENE -- Ina game that must have surprised Brule Hotel players more than anyone, Athenian Raiders came up with a big win, rolling over the first place team 11-3 Athenian pitcher John Young got the win, allowing only three hits from the powerful offense of Brule Hotel. Young also struck out five batters and allowed four walks while handing Brule players their second loss of the season. Scoring opened in the first inning, when Brule batter Ed Trudeau was hit by a pitch and then went on to score along with Dave Stainton after a pair of wild pitches. Athenian Raiders quickly took a one-run lead in the same inning when Peter Grigg singled and Aime Gignac hit a two-run homer to right field. Athenians increased their lead with three more runs in the third inning. John Young, Alex Sibbald and Jack Playne all singled and scored with help from one Brule error. Athenians scored yet another run in the fourth and then exploded for four more runs in the fifth. In the fourth inning, Keith Bath walked and went on to score on Rick Lemieux's single. Brule. committed two errors in the fifth and along with singles from Peter Grigg, John Young and Al Playne that wrapped up the game.
