Two Port MeNicoll Fined $300 for UIC fraud MIDLAND--A © Port MeNicoll man was fined a total of $300 in Provincial court on Monday after pleading guilty to two separate charges of making false statements to the Unemployment Insurance Commission. According to UIC in- vestigator William Young, James Mullen reported no work or earnings on his report cards for a month. During that time he worked for the Canadian Coast Guard and earned over $1,000. He received $127 a week from the com- mission for the four week period. Mr. Mullen's lawyer told the court his client is married and has two children. He has been gainfully employed with the Coast Guard for several months. Mr. Mullen was fined $100 on the first charge and $200 on the second charge for a total of $300.
