Police have a quiet weekend Penetanguishene Police officers had a fairly quiet weekend, according to reports released Monday mor- ning. Radar installations and Sunday, and 14 charges were laid as a result. There were also five various liquor offences charged. One was charged against a Penetanguishene man, as a result of erratic driving. Constable Lizotte pulled the vehicle over, and charged the driver with impaired driving and excess alcohol. Three bicycles were stolen, but none have been recovered as yet. During his tenure in North Simcoe he has been active in the areas of soil and crop management, farm management in- cluding farm records, beef management, 4-H and Junior Farmers. Mr. Humphries' new appointment became effective on July 1. He and his wife Norma and their two children will be living in Elmvale until a new home can be found in Dundas County. This area is not unfamiliar to either Mr. Humphries or his wife, as they were both born and raised in the area and still have family ties in the county. Mr. Steve Dolson, a native of Peel County has joined the staff of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food at Elmvale. He has been appointed assistant Agricultural Represen- tative in North Simcoe and succeeds~ Bob Humphries. Mr. Dolson is » a 1978 graduate of the Ya University of Guelph where he majored in Animal and _ Poultry the responsibility of 4-H co-ordinator of agricultural clubs in the Obituaries Mr. Adolphe Belcourt on June 30, 1978 at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, following a brief illness. Born on October 6, 1897 .in Perkinsfield and lived all his life in that area. Mr. Belcourt served as the church organist at St. Patrick's Church in Perkinsfield for over 40 years. _ He was a member of Club l'age d'or de Lafontaine and Club Cinquante et plus de Penetanguishene. Mr. Belcourt served on the Perkinsfield Catholic School Board for over 40 years. '4 A service was held at St. Patrick's Church in Perkinsfield on July 3. Interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery. The Pallbearers were Andre Cantin, Pierre Beaudoin, Francois Leduc, Richard, Henri and Paul Belcourt (all grandsons). Pre-deceased by parents Joseph Belcourt and Helene Desroches. _Survived by wife Mrs. Estelle (Marchildon) Belcourt of Perkinsfield, by daughters, Soeur Veronique of Ottawa, Celine (Mrs. Clement Beaudoin) of Bowman- ville, Odile, (Mrs. Nor- mand Cantin) of Mississauga and Lucille (Mrs. Ivan Leduc) of Longueil Province of Quebec. Also survived by sons, Fulgence of Hanmer, Cyril, Sylvain, Guy and Fernand all of Perkin- sfield and his sister, Soeur Ange Gabriel of Sudbury. id Mr. Belcourt leaves behind 42 grandchildren. P.D. The car was owned by Charlie Jamieson, of 46 Main Street. The vehicle valued at $3,200 was recovered by the Milton detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police. Milton OPP also charged a _ London resident as a result of the theft. Finally, a portable classroom at Penetanguishene _Seco- ndary School was broken into sometime between Friday and Monday. Police are investigating the incident, but at present nothing has been discovered missing, and the only damage done was to the door and door frame of the portable. gees Services held for Crawford Funeral services were held Monday in the Georgian College Theatre, 401 Duckworth Street, Barrie for the college's president, Robert P. Crawford. Mr. Crawford died in Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, on July 5 from injuries suffered in a shooting incident at his home July 3. Mr. Crawford, who was 54 years old at the time of his death, was born in Galt, Ontario and received his primary and secondary school education in the Toronto area. In 1942 he entered Trinity College and the University of Toronto and later the same year joined the Royal Canadian Navy serving with Canadian and British forces, while rising to the rank of lieutenant. Following the Second World War, Mr. Crawford returned to U of T and in 1949 graduating with a B.A. Se. in mining engineering. The same year he joined the International Nickel Company of Canada Limited (Inco) in Sud- bury. From 1949 to 1957 he was associated with several of the company's mining operations as assistant chief engineer of one of the Sudbury district mines. From 1957 to 1967 Mr. Crawford worked in a senior management capacity with Inco as technical director of personnel. In the area of com- munity work Mr. Crawford served on the board of governors of Thornloe College (Laurentian University), was chairman of the advisory committee of the Provincial Institute of Mining and a member of the advisory committee of the Northern Ontario Institute of Technology. During his tenure at Georgian, which began with the college opening in 1969 Mr. Crawford helped build the college from 101 students in a rented portion of a shopping centré to 1,600 enrollment this year at campuses in Barrie, Orillia and Owen Sound. In 1970 Mr. Crawford conceived the idea for the summer school of arts, with people throughout the college region taking part in more than 40 centres in the wide range of courses available today. Mr. Crawford's family asks that donations be made to the Robert P. Crawford Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers.
