Bob Voorzanger was named vice-chairman and Dan Herbert the secretary treasurer. The newly appointed Board of Management has met twice in the past two weeks. The purpose of the meetings was to elect an executive and to appoint committees of the Board. According to Ralph Lynn, chairman of the publicity commitee, the board's budget was approved and will be presented to council at the next regular council meeting. In a four hour long meeting on May 11, the board decided to form five different committees to deal with different aspects of downtown revitalization. These committees will report directly to the board. "We are brand new so we have to define what we want to do with the committee structure," Mr. Lynn said, explaining why the first meeting was so lengthy. The Advertising and Promotions Committee is made up of appointees, Bud Lewis, Dan Herbert, Harvey Leader and Paul Howard. The purpose of the committee is to promote the B.I.A. as a shopping and business area through advertising and promotions. John Patchell is the sole board member on the Beautification and Decorations Committee. Mr. Patchell's respon- sibily is to develop, document and execute a program and budget for the upkeep of currently existing beautification projects, the installation of Christmas decorations and any other decorating projects the Advertising Committee wants carried out. The Communications and Public Relations Committee has board members Ralph Lynn and Frank Keenan on it. This committee will provide BIA members with in- formation as well as carry out certain public relations duties. Bob Voorzanger, Reeve Sam Ancio, Peter Palmer and seven as yet ap- pointed consumers will comprise the Public Liaison Committee. Together these members will provide the board with community input on certain issues including future downtown im- provement programs and parking. The fifth committee is the Planning Committee which has board member Clarke Edwards. This committee will be responsible for developing documenting > V.H.F.
