Michael Arthur isn't sure whether to trust the warm spring weather or not. Taking no chances, he still perfers the warmth of his winter coat and hat. No chances Michael's babysitter, Janice Lavigne took him for a spring walk in Little Lake Park, Wednesday. Staff photo Bicycles, golf clubs sure signs of summer by Terri Howell and Dave Fuller : "Bring back those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, Those days of soda and pretzels and beer." Soaring temperatures, crocuses that are peeping their heads out of the ground, children running with puppies in the park, bicycles, golf clubs and convertible cars--these are all sure signs that summer looms 'just around the corner. In Midland everyone is taking advantage of the weather, tossing aside winter coats and boots in favour of shorts, t-shirts and sandals. Bicycles have been substituted for cross country skis, winter tires are being stored away and school children are counting the days until school is over and summer holidays begin. F Little Lake Park has been .a bevy of summer activity. On Wednesday, the first picnickers of the cf € Y by ; X Fe Cyclists Bicycles are the order of the day now that the sun is shining, and the days are longer and warmer. Two cyclists took a moment in front of the change houses in the park to bare winter's white skin to the warm rays of the sun. season sat on the shores of the lake munching on chicken and salads and drinking soda pop. White legs and white arms, hidden in dark clothes during the winter months were bared to the first warm rays of the summer sun. Frisbees, bare feet, babies in carriages, bicyclers crazy with the freedom of spring, and motorcycles were all part of the Little Lake experience this week. Out at the beaches things weren't quite as active. The ice is gone and the sand is warm, but so far the sun worshippers haven't been lured out of their winter hideaways. At least one area golf course, early birds were out practicing their rusty strokes this week, despite the fact that snow patches still dotted the course. Spring has sprung there is no doubt about that. Summer isn't far behind--hopefully. Ed Fournier doesn't care that sections of the golf course are still dotted with unmelted snow. He and at least seven others were on the fairways Wednesday afternoon brushing up their strokes for the coming golfing season.
