They are: Eugene _ Laskiewicz, Charles Monreuil, Andrew Markov and jan Eldon Brethour. h* Mr. Laskiewicz will be adjudicating the ac- cordion competition, the first event in the two week festival. Mr. Laskiewicz holds the distinction of being the first accordionist in Canada to be allowed candidacy for a Bachelor of Music degree, and holds the degree from Queen's University. Long associated with the Royal Conservatory of Music, Mr. Laskiewiez has represented Canada in various' international accordion competitions, and has performed his art across Europe. He has also performed in such noteable ac- Youth Orchestra, The Essex Scottish Regimental Band, and the Royal Conservatory of Music. In 1948 he began his secondary school music teaching career in Bancroft, and 10 years later moved to head the Music department at Orillia District and Vocational Institute, and four years later moved to Park Street Collegiate to begin the instrumental musie program there. He has. served as Bandmaster of the Orillia Kiltie Band, and has been musical director of the Mariposa Arts Theatre Orchestra. Andrew Markow of the Royal Conservatory of Music will be ad- judicating the piano competitions on April 17 and 18. A student of the respected Boris Berlin, Mr. Markow has received music degrees from the University of Toronto, his credit, including being the Director of Music for the Toronto Board of Education, the direc- torship of the Canadian Bureau for the Advan- cement of Music, and a lifetime membership in the Toronto Musician's Association.
