Mrs. Bertha Waples of Elmvale spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Rumney. She returned home on Monday and Charles Robinson returned with her for a visit. Mrs. Ted Vasey spent the weekend in Toronto visiting relatives and attended the Ice Follies. Weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Craig Painter and boys were Mr. and Mrs. Gary Marchment and Kevin of Toronto. During the weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Frew of West Hill visited Mr. and Mrs. Brian Turner and family. Mrs. Doug Smitham, Tammy and Mathew visited on Monday with Mr. and Mrs. M. Ragot of Barrie. Pot Luck Supper The Vasey United Church held their annual meeting on Saturday evening with a pot luck supper preceding the business meeting. A very successful year was completed with highlights being, the dedication on March 6 of the new facilities and in Sep- tember the induction of our new minister Rev. K Warne, in June the successful auction sale and in May the an- niversary service. The future year also looks as if it will be a busy one with various projects and programs to be carried out. One of these will again be the annual auction sale, the date to be announced at a late time Mr. and Mrs. _ Elmer Brown, Stephen and Jeffrey of Dalston visited Sundayd with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Edwards. Mrs. Luella Pretty has returned home to Regina after spending the past month with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Faint and while here visited with other relatives and friends Mr. Roy Edwards at- tended a _ Trustee's Convention in Toronto last week. Sunday visitors with the Edwards were Mr. and Mrs. Don Woodrow and family of Coulson and Norma of Barrie The Victoria Harbour Brownies and Guides will have a refreshment booth at the ballfield during the Mini Bon Homme on Friday February 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday February 5, from noon to 3 p.m. Birthday congratul- ations to three residents our community in the coming week. On February 2 Mr. Manley Edwards who will be seventy-eight, on February 3, to Mrs. William Taylor who reaches the eighty mark and on February 7 Mrs. Herman McFarland who is 79 years young Church women meet The Vasey United Church Women met in the church on January 25 with 23 members present. Devotions were under the convenership of the Literature and Com- munications Committee led by Mrs. Margaret Rumney. The Scripture was read by Mrs. Victor Wilson followed by prayer by Eleanor Edwards. Mrs. Doug Ferris read a message on Praying Hands. The roll call was a verse on "Preparation"' of "Inspiration". <A playlet presented by Mrs. Frank Smitham, Mrs. Sandy Wilson, Mrs. Doug Ferris, and Mrs. Vic Wilson, on "giving reports'? was humorous as well as informative. Many thank you notes were read from gifts and cards received at Christmas. A letter from "Supply anbd Outreach" was read requesting clothing and personal supplies. A motion was moved and carried to send a donation of money to the "Fred Victor Mission". Several suggestion were made on fund raising for the coming year and Mrs. Ted Vasey game an in- teresting eport on the UC Ws Simcoe Presbyterial held in Wyevale on January 17. Lunch was served by Mrs. Nathan Edwards, Mrs. Fred Edwards and Mrs. Nelson Edwards.
