Determined start Heather Pearson takes off after her teammates at a recent practice for the Midland Secondary School's Junior girls volleyball team. The girls were MSS wrestling squad shows well Wrestlers from Midland Secondary School won seven of twelve bouts against the host team at a quad meet held at Collingwood Collegiate, before bowing to stronger schools from Bracebridge and Flesherton. Against Collingwood, the Midland team lost by a few points, despite their majority of wins, after forfeiting several weight classes Midland con- tested only twelve of the weight classes and lost five of them. Teams from Bracebridge and Flesherton, established competitors in Secondary School wrestling, won almost all all of their events against Midland. Jim Long won the heavyweight class against his opponenet from Collingwood, as did Steve Clarke in the 191 pound class. Kirk Swales, Tom Walker and Marv Evans were successful in the 156, 141 and 136 pound classes respectively. Todd Clarke took the 165 pound class and Fred Webster the 134 pound bout. The highlight of the day's competition came when a member of the Flesherton entourage requested a_ special exhibition meatch with Midland's Kirk Swales. Swales put up a good fight with the unamed opponent before finally losing the match, but discovered immediately afterwards that his competitor was no or- dinary wrestler. Swales opponent, who remained unnamed, was a National finalist during his high school career and a member of the Varsity team at Guelph University.
