This statement in The Seattle Times underscores the im- portance of turning our attention to the family unit and its question of survival in this changing world. What is the reason for family difficulties? Is it. money? Is more education and counselling needed? Arthur' Allison, spokesman for the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, agrees that powerful forces are shaking more and more households. As Christians we feel the solution lies in applying the direction given in the Bible for husbands, wives and children. Mr. Allison added, "To reinforce our ap- preciation of that direction, the congregation members and their friends will attend their semi-annual circuit assembly at our Assembly Hall at Norval, November 12 and 13 where much of the program will deal with uniting the family". He added, "While we do not have a great problem this way as an organization, we do need reminders that help us maintain close-knit families. For local farmers with Aazkaborro, an Arabian stallion kicks up his heels in the freedom of the moment as he runs around the paddock at the McKay farm. Aazkabooro is an in- ternational champion, a supreme champion and was a regional top five in Colorado. Aazkaborro and trainer Gordon McKay of Hillsdale will be trying for more top honours. For the animals its a chance to win top honours in the province--to be called "the best."' By the time the show opens on November 11, Gordon McKay and his wife of Hillsdale will already be set up in their make-shift box stall office where they will spend the next few days. The McKay's are taking five Arabian stallions and an Arabian mare to the fair. A week later, on November 17, a con- tingent of steers will be trucked from Simcoe County to the fair as well. The steers will be going with their 4-H club owners who will be competing against each other in the Queen's Guineas. It will not be the McKay's first time at the fair. They have shown horses many times. The McKays~ are _ horse trainers and the horses they have worked with up. It was all in preparation for the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. It will not be a surprise to see at least one of their horses walk away with an award. Helen Hawke of Coldwater is a 4-H member. She will be showing her steer "Starsky"' in the Queen's Guineas. Starsky has already won a 'Reserve Champion"? at a show earlier in the summer. Right now Starsky weighs in at 1010 pounds. However, he will have to weigh more before he goes to the fair. Helen says he loses weight in transit and she is con- cerned he will not like "city water". This is not Helen's first time showing at the Royal either. Helen has been raising show steers since she was small. She says if Starsky takes the top award in the Queen's Guineas when he goes to public auction after the show he could see for as much as four dollars a pound. In order to get Starsky ready for the show, Helen walks or runs him a mile a day. As well she cleans him and even trains his hair to curl up. The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair lasts from November 11 through to the next weekend. The judging of the different animals goes on daily in different rings in the coliseum.
