No. 646 Auxilians tour HDH by Marion Sleep A well-conducted and complete tour of Huronia District Hospital was enjoyed by members of the Hospital Auxiliary at the conclusion of the October meeting With Administrator Ted Pritchard assisted by four of his staff, the Auxilians were privileged to see many areas not usually viewed by the general public. Marion Quesnelle, Joan Hough, Norma Peel and Dorothy Rogers, along with Mr Pritchard, answered many questions and explained all technical areas during the one-and a-half hour tour The general meeting was held in the hospital cafeteria, President Mrs Mary Luke welcomed the members and four guests Delegates to the Fall Conference at Chesley, Mrs. A. Nicholls, Mrs D.J. Graham and Mrs Luke reported on various workshops they had at tended including Public Relations and Gift Shops Mrs. Nicholls stated that it was generally agreed by all P.R delegates that Tag Days were well worthwhile--an excellent way to have contact with the general public, many of whom do not attend other auxiliary functions but who wish to make small contributions towards auxiliary work Mrs Graham was gratified to learn that the H.D.H. Gift Shop was being operated as well as and in many ways better than, the other shops discussed. During an exchange of ideas by participating auxilians, she was also able to give details of the auxiliary sponsored "Art auction' to an inquiring auxiliary Mrs. Luke, who at tended the president administrator conference with Mr Pritchard, stated once again that members must work up to much more in-hospital volunteer work Gift Shop convener Mrs. Belle McKee gave her usual excellent report, along with her treasurer Mrs. Barbara Simpson. Mrs. Merle Gardhouse and Mrs Grahani were com plimented on the ap pearance of the shop and the arrangement of the considerable supply of new stock New Shop hours A new service supplied by the auxiliary is the addition of a beautifully decorated small cart carrying baby clothing, toys etc. to visit the maternity ward oly on a twice-weekly basis. New hours for Saturday and Sunday at the Shop will be from 12-4:30 p.m Dance Convener Ruth Gammell reminded members that tickets will be on sale at Edward's Store Noy. 3-4, from 12 noon until closing time ONLY. There will be no phone orders taken or reservations for this popular dinner-dance Several work parties have been held with another one at the auxiliary work room on Nov. 10. Help will also be required at the Country Mill to decorate, Nov. 16 17 (please bring scissors and needles! ) The annual Candy Stripers capping ceremony was enjoyed by the 29 girls and their parents and the com- mitte was congratulated for a very successful year. Dominion Store Tapes convener Joan Lynn and her committee have totalled $316,227.21 in tapes, which will be redeemed for hospital merchandise shortly. A package of tapes was recently received from an auxiliary supporter in Quebec! Before closing the meeting, the president once more asked for extra volunteer workers both for the Gift Shop and also for the chronic wing particularly at mealtimes. The November 28 meeting will be held at the YMCA. Obituaries Frederick E. Atkinson Funeral services were held at the James H. Lynn Funeral Home, Elmvale, on October 8th for Frederick E. Atkinson. The 83-year old resident of Wasaga Beach passed away October 5, at the Georgian Manor, Penetanguishene.
