Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rumney spent' the weekend in Richmond Hill visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rumney, and on Sunday attended a family gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Rumney, when a birthday dinner was held on the occasion of Mr Dalton Rumney's eightieth birthday Mr. and Mrs. Langford Brown of Forgen, Sask. and Mrs. Nicol MacIntosh of Calgary © visited relatives in the com- munity during the past week Mr. and Mrs. Ross McFarland accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Whetham to Guelph recently to visit Mrs. Ester Reynolds at Eden House Mr. and Mrs. Mar- chmount and Kevin of Toronto visited Mr. and Mrs. Craig Painter and Lyle last week Visitors during the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Manley Edwards were Mrs. Bob Lockhart and Patsy of Fergus, Debbie Curry of Guelph. During the weekend, Mrs. Bruce Greider and Vicki, Mrs. Ivy Alphey and Sherry Peters all from Lindsay, and Mrs. Doreen Gutherie and Cindy of Midland. Vasey W.I. The Vasey Women's Institute met on June 8, at the home of Mrs. Orval Edwards with thirteen members and one visitors present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted, reports given and correspondence read. Final arrangements for the lunch to be served on June 14 for the Retarded Children's picnic were made. The motto "Be sure you're right, then go ahead, be sure you're wrong before you quit" was explained by Mrs. Ross McFarland, and she also read a poem "'Advice to Millions Who Rush Through Life." The roll call '"'Name a person in the news and tell why he or she appears there," was well answered by all. The program under the Public Relations con- venor, Mrs. Ross McFarland conducted a contest of unscrambling twelve names of Canadian cities which was won by Mrs. Olive McCleverty. A scrapbook of newspaper wedding pictures and write-ups of people in the Vasey area dating back some 25 years was shown. Also some souvenir's from England of the Queen's Silver Jubilee. Mrs. Willis Reynolds reported on the District Annual and the meeting was closed by singing the Institute grace and the Queen. Lunch was served by Mrs. Gladys McLay, Miss Eleanor Edwards, Mrs. Mabel Russell and the hostess.
