Orillia = District Collegiate and Vocational Institute beat.MSS 65-53 in the semi-finals of the Georgian Bay Secondary School Association playoffs. The game was the last for the outstanding guard in the purple and gold of a MSS uniform. Both Agnew and Mark Rintoul will be graduating at the end of this school year. The game was also the last for the MSS team as they have now been eliminated from .the playoffs. The Midland and Orillia lads had met _ previously throughout the season, five times before in exhibition matches with Orillia having won three, tied one and one loss. All games had been close encounters with one goal deciding the outcome and Saturday night was no different as Orillia once again squeezed by with a 4-3 win. The first period was scoreless but Orillia took an early 2-0 second period lead in goals by Robbie Murphy and Pat Morris. With just over three minutes remaining Owen Quilty brought the puck from behind the Orillia net and tucked it in and the second period ended 2- "Shida Bylow made it 3- 1 Orillia as 1:27 of the third but Ralph Seemann laid out a perfect pass to Billy Kennedy and the Flyers closed 3-2 at 5:06. Three minutes later Robbie Murphy restored the two goal lead for Orillia but with 4:13 remaining. Mike Mayloughlin who assisted on Flyers first goal deflected a shot into the corner of the net making it 4-3 and the Flyers pressed for the tying goal. With just over a minute remaining, Midland pulled their goalie for a sixth attacker, but although they came close, Orillia was able-to bar the door and hang on for their 4-3 win.
