The tie breaker turned out to be two foul shots sunk by the Alliston school with 18 seconds left. James Moreau was the big gun for MSS, netting 17 points, John Faragher scored 10. The MSS Midgets were more successful on the court as they dominated their opposition, winning 60-33. Alliston had only Juveniles lose The Penetanguishene keeping in shape for their playoff series against Parry Sound this week, defeated Midland 8-3 in an exhibition game played Sunday afternoon. Penetanguishene jum- ped into a 2-1 lead in the first period on goals by Paul Lefaive from Mark DeCourcy, and by DeCourcy from John St. Amant, while the Midland goal was scored six minutes from the end of the period, by Chris Wright from Travis Hunter and-Tim Merkley. Hunter' tied it up for Midland just 36 seconds from Merkley, but Penetanguishene scored four in a row in the remainder of the period to wrap up the game. Aime Gignac scored two in the space of eight minutes, assisted on the first by Grant Quesnelle and St. Amant, and on the second by Quesnelle and Pat Duquette. Harry Cowan and St. Amant scored within 14 seconds of one another near the end of one sub on the bench and he fouled out, meaning all their players had to go the distance. The resulting fatigue left holes open in the Alliston defence and MSS capitalized on them with good hustle. Doug Lynn earned 10 points for the victors. Midland's senior team won the Stayner Basketball Tournament on the strength of Steve Agnew's _ outstanding play. Agnew scored 46 points, over one-third of his team's point total in the three game competition. MSS downed Owen Sound 42-38 in the first matchup and Meaford 44- 35 in the second to earn a spot in the finals. Collingwood Collegiate was easily defeated by MSS in the final game, 44- 25. Glen Bannan also had a good series, scoring 27 points. The seniors travel to Collingwood today for their sudden-death game in the . quarter-final playoffs. .
