He said, however, that the two could expect some feedback at the March meeting of the board. Housing standards Also discussed at the board's meeting was recommendation to council that it adopt new minimum floor area requirements for single family dwellings in Penetanguishene. Should council approve the bylaw proposed by planning board, the minimum ground floor area requirements for a single family dwelling in an R1iS zone would be reduced from _ 1,100 Square feet to 1,000 square feet. For single family dwellings in an R2 zone, the minimum would be reduced from . 1,100 square feet to 900 square feet, and for single family dwellings in an R38 zone, the minimum would be reduced from _ 1,050 square feet to 800 square feet. The reason given for the reductions was that the government's Assisted Home Owner- ship Program (AHOP) was not. subsidizing housing with a ground floor space of more than 1,000 square feet. The town's minimum floor In Elmvale space requirements as they now stand, before council adopts the new minimums, effectively legally prohibit people in Penetanguishene from making use of the AHOP St. Amant rink wins Ye Old Bean Pot was presented to a Penetanguishene rink at the annual invitational Bean Pot Social hosted by the Elmvale Curling Club on Wednesday, February 16. After spending a_ short time in the homes of the winners, the plaque will be displayed with other trophies at St. Joseph's. It will be returned to Laboureau Hall for next year's Public Speaking Contest. The judges for the contest were Father Joseph Harrington, Mrs. Anita Hill, and Miss. Augusta Boyer. The public speech itself is a good learning experience, she said, in that it provides the opportunity for the contestants to stand up and speak to a live audience. Following the contest, refreshments were served, with Mrs. Alma Vaillancourt in charge. Mrs. Kay St. Amant, President of the Catholic Women's League then presented Father Harrington, in the ab- sence of the parish priest Father Dignard, with a cheque for $800, to be spent by Father Dignard on a project of his choice.
