This business and the building on Main Street were purchased in 1902 by James Kingsboro from Harry Borland. George Kingsboro learned the hardware business while working with his father and took over. the operation when James Kingsboro died in 1939. The store was smaller at this time, with wooden warehouses at the back of the property. An ex- tension was added in 1947 with new shelving being installed. George recalls how the bulk of the business at that time was derived from~sales to local farmers. It was not unusuial to sell seven dozen pitchforks in the spring. Nowadays, possibly two forks a year is all the demand calls for. Horse collars and harnesses were another necessary commodity. The harness was supplied in numerous separate pieces, and it was George's job to assemble it. It was also possible during this time to pur- chase McCormack-De- ering farm machinery through the store. The reduction in farming has brought about a change in the clientele and the type of stock carried in the store. news District E. The meeting was opened with a New Year's Prayer with Mrs. Sylvia Duncliffe presiding. Mrs. Betty Dunkly read the minutes and several thank you notes from recipients of Christmas gifts from the Guild. A very satisfactory treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Mona Duncliffe. A motion was passed to again support the same foster child in India as last year and money was also sent off to purchase him an Easter gift and a birthday present. Several knitted articles were turned in to be stored away for the Christmas bazaar next year. It was agreed that the members bring whatever they wish each month rather than one specific item. Mrs. Hamilton's son Bob appeared briefly at the meeting to thank the women for the lovely Prayer Book congregation gave him for Christmas. Nominations for new officers took place. Mrs. Sylvia Duncliffe, Mrs. Inez Price and Mrs. Mona Duncliffe will remain in the same offices for another year. Mrs. Dorothy Jeans accepted the office of secretary. Mrs. Gerdes spoke briefly on Outreach as it must shortly be decided which project the Parish will support for another year. Dues for the year 1977 were paid and a draw for the sick benefit was made and Mrs. Jeans was the lucky winner. The meeting was brought to a close with the hostess serving a light lunch.
