Progressive Association elections The Women's Progressive Association of Midland met January 19 at the Senior Citizen's Center with Mrs. Robina Fair presiding over a good attendance of members. After business was disposed of, elections for officials for the 1977 executive took place. Nominated are president Mrs. Robina Fair, vice- president Mrs. Meda Ruby, treasurer Mrs. Anne Battrick, secretary Mrs. Dorothy McElroy, assistant secretary Mrs. Vera Robinson, publicity Mrs. Eyelyn Rynex and Mrs. Grace Murday, lunch convenors Mrs. Florence Willman and Mrs. Kay Jones, and Mrs. Jessie Brown, visiting: committee Mrs. Edna Bridges and Mrs. Grace Atkinson, pianists Mrs. Betty Scovill and Miss M. Carson. The association will hold a pot-luck dinner on March 16, starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Senior Citizen's Center. The dinner will commemorate the 22nd birthday of the association. Programs |. vary at Midland Y_ Arts and crafts are forever popular in the Midland area and during the month of February the local YMCA will feature the YMCA's craft program will feature candle - making, a,craft that goes back many centuries. The four evening course will cover a variety of candle types and candle- making techniques. Applications are still being accepted for this course' which _ starts Thursday, February 3. The ladies Take-A- Break program, held every Wednesday mor- ning is an outing for both mother and child. The program speaks for itself as it gives mothers a chance to relax with her peer groups while the children have the same opportunity with their babysitters. Each week the groups' topics are unique and important for todays' young mothers. Women's rights, human sexuality, preventing rape, living with death and general discussion of life in- surance, soils and stains, to name but a few, are topics of the morning sessions. The program also provides coffee and babysitting. Take-A- Break' starts every Wednesday at 10 a.m. The following programs © could materialize if there is sufficient interest from the community: backgammon, duplicate bridge, interior decorating, tennis, golf, belly dancing, ballroom dancing and yoga. Those interested should register with the YMCA at 526- producers plan meet in Barrie The 1977 annual Simcoe County Wheat Producers' meeting will be held on February 10 in the Co-op Board Room, Barrie, starting at 1:45 p.m. The meeting is called to receive reports and elect the county wheat com- mittee for the coming year and to conduct other business which may be presented by _ those present. One representative to the district wheat producers' committee - will be elected for each of 250 producers or fraction thereof in the county. All wheat producers are welcome.
