Leslie Beal from Midland and Annalise Rassmussam_ from Barrie teamed up to wina gold in the ladies doubles badminton event. Figure skating was Midland's forte last year at the games; but they came up a bit flat this time around three out of a possible points on four the Games underway Wendy Haseneier was the only gold medal winner in skating, win- ning the Intermediate ladies group A division. Carrie Van Klink was right behind her taking the silver. In the ladies open division Cindy Mandley turned in a fine performance to capture the silver medal. The games will con- tinue in the New Year from January 8 to 16 Alumni basketball Midland Secondary School's fourth annual alumni basketball games have been scheduled for January 29. This year the girls will be getting into the action as former graduates of MSS battle the present senior'girls team. The men will take on MSS"s strong senior boys' team. The only criterion for participation is that former students must have played on the senior girls or boys team while attending MSS. Parents, relatives and friends are asked to notify former players. Midland was forced to play with less than a full lineup as two players were away with injuries and two were sick Midland scored in the first period and held on to the slim margin until the second when Stayner + came back with a pair of goals. Midland tied it up again before the period was over. Stayner came out in the third with two quick goals and forced Midland to play catch-up hockey Scott Kennedy, Gerry Borsa, Paul Hahn and Danny Hall tallied for Midland with assists going to John Wright, Paul Belanger, Guy Forget and Scott Ken- nedy Midland dominated Saturday's game against Thornbury scoring three goals in the first period Pat Kennedy scored two goals each with singles going to Gerry Borsa and an unassisted effort by Paul Belanger .
