Curling club tials Jake Reimer said- 'the turnout was good, and said a lot of new members have signed up as well as a good number of old members who dropped around. Saturday night a chitney and a dance were held, and Reimer said there were a lot of young people at the dance. "It's a community centre, and we like to see the younger crowd come out, as well as the older people," he said. During the registration, Annette St. Amant, the membership chairman, Annette Desroches, and ~ . Marian St. Amant offered instruction to beginners who were interested in joining the club. Other old members who happened to be around at the time - also helped out in giving prospective members a taste of what the sport is all about. All this week there is free curling and practise for members and prospective members at ~ the curling arena, and next Monday the regular schedule of competition will begin. Trustees attend workshop Three members of the Simcoe County Roman Catholic Separate School Board attended the recent Family Life Workshop, organized by the Simcoe County Unit of the Ministry of Health. Trustees Healey, Quilty and Eagan and Superintendent of Schools Bolger reported to last week's board meeting that if the program is to succeed it must teach moral values. Their impression was that the clinical approach is not enough. The board listened to a review of the Ontario Student Record Cards from Director of Education Macdonald. Mr. Macdonald explained that although the system was actually im- plemented at the elementary level in 1948, it did not become com-. pulsory until 1960. The cards, which are a record of the student's progress and activities, follow the student from school to school. The folders must be kept for a period of 70 years by the last school a student attends. Trustee Marchand had attended an Urban Policy Workshop which placed special emphasis on the Tiny-Tay area. He said that by planning together, Tiny, Tay, Midland and Penetang would probably avoid the pitfalls of many other areas. Go Native This Winter.
