Harvey Markle of- Call Contact 526-9333 Hours 9 a.m. to6 p.m. Monday to Friday (Except Holidays) This week of never ending rain, gray skies and cold does not make one feel like our fall season has just started but that it has been with us for some time. Remember if our lives had no clouds they would have no rainbows Again this fall the Simcoe County Board of Education will be having Evening Classes at the Midland and Penetanguishene Secondary Schools and also in Vic- toria Harbour. There are 45 different subjects to choose from. and anyone from the age of 16 to 80 can participate. Registration dates and fees are listed in the papers. Georgian College again is offering 21 in- teresting courses and for the details of these classes and registration call 526-4345. Education is an on going system. We are never too old to learn and we have never learned enough so with the vast and varied subjects being offered at our high schools and Georgian College you should find something to interest you and to widen your scope and outlook on life. It may be a subject that will place you in a higher level and so improve your job potential or it may be a subject that will give you a craft that can fulfill your reitrement years. How about the topic of Log HouseConstruction? An exciting and practical course for anyone considering this economical method of construction that our forefathers did so well so many years ago and are still standing today as an example of their craftsmanship. Contact has had a busy week with varied call - one caller wanted to know how much rain had fallen in our area since the first of thisyWould you believe that 5!- inches have fallen? My sincere thanks to Mr. Melville Curtis who had this knowledge right at his fingertips when I called for this information. Mr. Curtis has been measuring our rain and snow fall since 1948. People like Mr. Curtis make our job at Contact much easier with his pleasant and co-operative assistance when we need _in- formation. There are many calls made to Contact each day but it is gratifying to the staff of Contact that at the end of each day we know we were able to help someone who needed our help. Unfortunately my plea in last week's column for volunteers did not bear any fruit. Again I am asking for volunteers Our need is really desperate and we need you. Happiness is helping others to help themselves. Be a volunteer and help. Call Contact 526-9333. Mary M. Gibson, Administrator. TOPSOIL Large or Small Amount Medium & Good Quality Price accordingly.
