Dancing and a late buffet supper supplied by the Midland P.S. ended the evening. A" First" Midland's_ Silver Anniversary was the first to be held in the Georgian- Trent District. The credit for a smooth-running three-day schedule goes to conference chairman Ken Walker and his committee. Monthly meetings starting in Oct., 1976, planned each minute detail, starting with the Friday night welcoming "Wine and Cheese Landing Party;" the presentation of goody- filled hostess packages to each registrant, and the many extra prizes, flowers and gifts given out at each evening, donated by _ visiting squadrons. Dozens of boats, large and small, flag decorated and gleaming from springtime -polishing were competently _ docked. As well as P.S. personnel OPP officers and their patrol boat were in constant attendance. On Saturday, Wayne McGillvray, OPP Barrie, gave an_ interesting demonstration of police scuba diving techniques. Seminars and the Annual District meeting took place while a fashion show entertained _ the ladies. Qn Sunday, Jack of Grew boats presented several of the new line for inspection or short cruises. Many Midland members enjoyed acting as hosts for boat cruises on Sunday afternoon. In the words of S/ C (r) John Corcoran AP '"'The influence of our graduates keeps spreading like ripples that travel outward. Thus the Squadron keeps on with its objective of training people in safe boating practices - and of course, having fun while doing so!"' Women attend floral, fashion show by Marion Sleep A beautiful sunny af- ternoon at Delawana Inn, Honey Harbour, failed to keep more than 100 women from attending a fashion show and floral display at the Midland Power Squadron District conference, June 12. Sponsored by Leah's Boutique, with Mrs. Belle McKee as commentator and coordinator, the ladies were treated to a distinctive display of summer finery ranging from casual sportswear to elegant patio and evening wear. Jewellery, searves and accessories from Leah's provided interesting variations to the "total look." As the models, Barbara Hacker, Kathy John- stone, Audrey Pady, Pat Teskey and Heather McKee moved through the audience, organist Al Dowber, from Dunlop's, supplied suitable background music. A change of pace during the fashion show ' was provided by florist Dick ----- P.D.Murphy Jewellers ---- The Gift that Preserves The graduation gift with long, long memories. Using as his theme "floral arrangements for boats," Mr. Wood deftly prepared many unique displays using ferns, fungi, milk week and wild grasses, materials supplied by Ernie Cowden of Perrin's. "Natural growth found along your shores are much prettier and more appropriate than formal displays," he said, "all you need is a little imagination!" Prior to the show, each ladyTeceived a small gift and a lucky draw num- ber. Winners of the two door prizes were Dorothy Watson, Bracebridge, and Donna Rowe, Midland. Enthusiastic applause endorsed Mrs. McKee's words of appreciation to Leah Bertrand and Mr. Wood, and the models for making the show such a success.
