Staff photo For beginners, experienced players. YMCA offering tennis courses Tennis being a very _popular sport this year, the Midland YMCA is offering tennis lessons. The first two classes filled up so quickly that the Y decided to offer you another course. On Monday, May 31 classes will be conducted at the Mental Health Centre. One class will begin at 7 p.m. and the other at 8 p.m. Both beginner and experienced players are welcomed to join the classes as many aspects of tennis will be taught. Jim Hill our instructor will be teaching his students, the grip, stance forehand, backhand, serve and many drills to get you in shape for this year's game. There is limited registration. Canoe workshop The Y program dept. is offering a canoe workshop Tuesday May 25 at the YMCA on Hugel Avenue. This workshop is designed for those at a beginner and in- termediate level and will begin at 7 p4m. With the nice weather coming boating and canoeing will soon start. Here's a chance for you to have a safe summer on the water. This will be a brief help you with your children through the summer months by keeping them busy in a recreational setting. We are hoping you will take advantage of our plans and preparations and that the youngsters in the Midland - Penetang and surrounding areas will benefit in some way through our program. Wyebridge downs Vasey In Simcoe Rural Fastball Monday night, Wyebridge defeated Vasey by a score of 9-5. The winning pitcher was Ted Preston. The Midland rugger bulls and the Sudbury Exiles played to a scoreless tie on the slippery turf at Midland Secondary School in the rain on Sunday afternoon. According to Bulls spokesmen, the game was Bulls tie 0-0 well played despite the less than good field conditions. Both teams had several chances to The Bulls first home game of the regular season is scheduled for May 29 at 3:00 p.m. McLean Frank McLean came with a 77 on.18 holes in the Midland Golf and Country Club Eager Beaver golf tournament held last week to capture first low gross.
