Vasey United Church Women's Report The Vasey United Church Women met at the home of Mrs. Cliff Irish on April 28, with twenty- five members and one visitor answering the roll call "A verse with the word cross in it." The program was taken by the supply committee and convened by Mrs. Frank Rumney on an Easter theme. Several read scripture and the topic "Easter in Hiroshema, New Life from Death" was given by Mrs. Ross Faint. Mrs. Nathan Edwards led in prayer and the offering was dedicated by Mrs. Earl Edwards. Mrs. Frank Smitham and Mrs. Clifford Irish received life membership pins. The church auction sale was discussed and further plans were made. This will be held on June 12 and all the action in the community this winter is any indication this will certainly be an_ in- teresting event. Plans were made to serve lunch after the anniversary service on May 23. Mrs. Ted Vasey gave a report on her recent visit to the U.C.W conference in Aurora as a delegate. Lunch was served by Mrs. Doug Ferris, Mrs. David Jones and Mrs. Wilma Fallis. 5 # Band concert in Orillia by E. Lorraine Orr Park Street Collegiate, Orillia, was the scene of a very enjoyable band concert last week when seventy members of a high school band from Cheboygan, Michigan, entertained a capacity audience. Travelling by private bus from Northern Michigan the first stop for these talented muscians was at the Bracebridge High School where they gave a concert. From there they drove to Toronto where they performed at the George S. Henry Secondary School in Don Mills. For relaxation from their duties they were taken on a tour of the Science Centre. While in Orillia the band members were billeted with students from the music depart- ment of Park Street Collegiate.
