Displaying sculpture at Georgian Bernice Vasey of R.R. 1, Midland is one of several Georgian College Creative Arts students who are displaying their sculptures in the foyer of the College's Central Services Building. Miss Vasey daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Vasey is in third year at the college. Castings in "ciment fondu" and metal, car- yings in wood and soapstone, and examples of constructivism are included in the display by the second and third-year students. Sculpture instructor Peter Dennis, who joined the college in 1971, ex- plained that second-year sculpture students con- centrate largely on materials and techniques, while third-year students have a greater freedom to pursue their own par- ticular areas of interest. Moose hunting dates announced Moose hunting seasons for 1976 will open on the same dates as those in 1975, Natural Resources Minister Leo Bernier announced last week. Hunting pressure on the moose herd will again be moderated by seasons placed between the rut and snowfall. Most seasons will open on a Monday this year. Hunters may wish to use the weekend to con- siderable advantage by scouting their prospective hunting areas and planning their hunt. The Territorial District of Parry Sound, Provisional County of Haliburton, District Municipality of Muskoka, County of Renfrew and parts of the counties of' Frontenac, Hastings, Lennox and Addington and Peterborough north of Highway 7 will be open to moose hunting this year. "These additional hunting opportunities should be welcomed by Ontario's resident moose hunters," Bernier said. The primitive weapons season on the Aulneau Peninsula will be opened to non-resident moose hunters this year. In much of the far north (Albany River area), where access is limited and hunting pressure is low, seasons will open between September 15 and September 27 for residents and between September 15 and October 4 for non- residents. Seasons close in these areas on December 15 and November 15 for residents and _ non- residents _ respectively. The season in nor- thwestern and _ north central Ontario will be from October 4 to December 15 for residents and from October 11 to November 15 for non-residents. This season, in which residents will enjoy a week ad- vantage over non- residents, has been ex- tended northward in the Geraldton area. The area where only residents may hunt will open on October 4 and close on December 15. In the _ northeast, seasons will open on October 11 in most areas. Exceptions include an October 7 opening in the Hearst-Kapuskasing area and an October 18 opening around Kirkland Lake. The non-resident season will open one week later ctober 18) than the ident season in areas between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie. Seasons will close two weeks earlier in the Hearst- Kapuskasing and the Temagami-Gogama- Chapleau-Timmins- Cochrane area. The two-week, residents-only hunt around North Bay has been extended southward to include areas north and east of Algonquin Park. Seasons will close on October 24 in the Sudbury and North Bay area. In the Hearst- -Kapuskasing area, the resident and non-resident seasons will close on November 15. In most other areas of the northeast (except the far north), the seasons for both residents and non- residents will close on October 31. The residents-only season in the Parry Sound, Haliburton, Muskoka, Renfrew, Bancroft and Peter- borough areas will open on November 1 and close on November 6. An archery season will again be provided in the Timmins area in 1976. This season will open September 20 and.close on October 10 for both residents and ~ non- residents. The primitive weapons (longbow, crossbow and muzzle-loading weapons) season on the Aulneau Peninsula in Lake of the Woods will be held October 4 _ through December 15 for residents and October 4 through November 15 for non-residents. uttart oady to owt homes BRANTFORD / CHATSWORTH / KINGSTON / NORTH BAY The expression of ideas, experimentation, and application of design theory to sculpture are also ieee Regent school Student wins Spelling contest A winners smile is flashed by Mina Tesseris, a student at Regeant School, after he won the spelling bee at Regent School last Thursday night.
