Lions carnival set for Saturday The annual Lions Club Street Carnival is going to be held twice this sum- mer and the first one starts this Saturday at 6:00 p.m. Normally the Penetanguishene Lions hold their Street Carnival on the first Monday in August, but as part of the kickoff celebrations for Penetanguishene's Old Home Week the Lions added another Street Carnival to their summer schedule of activities, Lions may donate Robert Street West from Main Street to St. Ann's Church will be closed off for the street carnival. Games of chance, food and candy, music and a number of special surprises are planned for the event. While you're at the street carnival pick up a few tickets on the Grew Sunfish Sailboat which will be raffled off at the August carnival. Tickets are available from any member of the Lions Club. However, he added that no cost estimate for such a project has been worked out yet and the idea of supplying the equipment was still at a preliminary stage. To date a delegation from the Lions Club has approached the amalgamated arena, parks and recreation board to notify the members of the Lions' interest in the project. A presentation by school's student council to Beverly Beauchamp Rankin was president of the club during the 1974-75 term fellow Grade 8 student Brian Orser highlighted the Corpus Christi Public award the special School graduation ceremony last Thursday night. Brian was given the award in recognition of the honour he brought to the school by winning a gold medal in the Men's B Division of the free skating competition at the Canada Winter Games last February. In addition to giving Orser the award, the school's student council decided to institute a new award - the Brian Orser Award of Merit, which will be presented each year to the»student who shows outstanding dedication. Brian per- sonally presented the award to its first recipient James Rankin.
