Victoria Harbour news by Lorraine Kindy Victoria Harbour Lions Club and Community Centre Board hold Exciting weekend, June 27-30. The weekend will start off with a Street Dance in front of the Dairy with music supplied by Jimmy Moreau and starting at 8:30 p.m, Refreshments will also be served A Giant Bazaar and Bake Sale will be held in Youth Centre at 2 pm Saturday, with lots of goodies and interesting items At 6 p.m. in the IGA Parking Lot there will be games of chance for everybody from 2 years to 60. Bingo will be held in the Youth Centre, plus refreshments On Sunday there will be a bar-b-que starting at noon at the town dock with registration for Water Skiing Races and Horse Shoe Competition taking place at noon Come one and all and have fun and support your Medical and Community Centres Medical Centre board The New Board of Directors for the Medical Centre are president Garth Evans, vice- president Paul Kindy, and Lawson Bake as secretary-treasurer Social news Harry and Liz Price who just got married June 14 are home visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs H. Price before heading for Timmins Members of the Lions club, wives and children spent two evenings painting the Lions Club booths purple and gold They were built under the organization of Earl Robichaud Upcoming bazaar The Victoria Harbour and District Ladies held a meeting June 17th to discuss the upcoming bazaar on June 28th. To this date the ladies have made a profit of $490.85 Ladies present were Miss Doris Schissler of the United Church, Mrs Hilda Savage of the Senior Citizens, Mrs June Walker of the Legion, Mrs. Adrian Alphonse of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Mrs Rose Chapmen of St Paul's and also president of the Ladies. Mrs. Helen Robichaud the treasurer, Mrs. Price the Secretary and Lorraine Kindy were in charge of the Bake Table, The Legion will be having a Penny Table and the Senior Citizens are having a touch and take table and a raffle. Bazaar Items are to be in Friday night and extra help is needed for pricing. Bake goods are to be at the youth centre by about 11 a.m, if possible Public School graduation The Grade 8 class of the Victoria Harbour Public School had their graduation supper Wed., June 25th. The opening toast to the queen was given by Mr. Cleland and the toast to the students by Mr. Cleland. Reply from the students was given by Steven Emery Mr. Muxlow the principal presented a pintto each of the graduating class. Mr. Rankin the former principal was _ guest speaker. Six students presented a program in music. Taking part were Bonnie Sallows, Carla Prentice, LeAnne Spires, Elizabeth Bressette, David Swales and Peter Robinson, Two students Miss Carla Prentice and Michael Fillingham, received outstanding student awards, from Alex Smitten president of the Lions Club, for the students who showed the greatest effort in academic, -social and sports efforts. The Valectorian was given by Janet Howard. 30th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Charles Evans celebrated their 30th anniversary last weekend with their family. Joan and Eleanor came home from Toronto to be with them. Kim and Michelle Jarman held a party to celebrate the end of school June 20th. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kindy and family visited Niagara Falls and went to Marineland.
