-------- Call Contact © 526-9333 Hours 9 a.m. to9p,m Mon to Fri except holidays af 2 by Eileen Smith person.' Sag "TE you want to get across an idea, wrap it up in a Some weeks ago it was decided by Contact' s referral board to have a special fund-raising meeting. A young man appeared with understanding of Contact's service and a real desire through many fellow musicians from our area to' organize and promote a benefit concert on behalf of Contact. He was committed to the idea and the responsibility of handling every detail with care. As a result, he arranged for the use of the Midland Secondary School Cafetorium on Friday, May 30from 9 p.m. to mignight. It is exciting to observe the enthusiasm with which young people work when they have a real purpose. It 'has given our Contact people a real uplift to have someone work independently for our benefit. The young musicians have asked that we encourage adults to attend too because they feel the music will appeal to all ages. There will be folk, Dixieland, con- temporary, jazz, blues and boogie; sounds like the music of the forties, folks. Come and enjoy our terrific local musicians and support a group of great kids who have worked hard in order to contribute to Contact and the many people we assist. Musicians are Jim McMillan and Bart Devonshire, folk singers; John Coull, Scott and Pete Whittington, Roger LaCroix, Dave Paille, Dixieland set; Mike McVittie, Pete Bolte, Chris Mounteer, Bart Gillcrest and Don Trevin, contemporary music; Gord Goodman, - Keith Stratton, Dave Cameron, Lorne Pinkney, Ernie Hamlin, and special guest Dan St. Amant, jazz quintet; Paul Brown, Paul Woodhouse, Hugh Bremner, Grant Peever, Gary Huvers, Blues & Boogie. Refreshments will be on hand with a great com- mittee in charge. Food donations for this benefit have been appreciated. Chaperones are Mrs. Tiny Pinkney, Mrs. MeVittie, Mrs. Wilcox, Chris Thomson, Mrs. MeMullen, Mrs. Brodeur, Mr. Wilcox and Mrs. Sylvia Cameron, parents and teachers of the students. The kids are making a terrific effort to keep costs down and profits up. Support us by attending an en- joyable evening for all ages this Friday night. Shut-ins day There are many disabled, immobilized citizens cut off from normal activity in our communities. The first Sunday in June is set aside each year as Shut-Ins Day. A personal card, a visit, a drive in the warm summer air, a-gift, a letter, a phone call are many ways of bringing warmth to sometimes lonely lives with small acts of love and friendship; those confined to hospitals or senior citizen's homes, as well as those who live alone. Be thoughtful, make yourself feel good--visit a shut- in--not just one Sunday, make it a habit. Somehow you always receive so much when you give because you care. Patrollers to Ottawa. Eighty school safety patrollers from North Simcoe were to Ottawa last Thursday morning to take part in a large Jamboree involving 8,000 safety patrollers from across Canada. In addition there will be dances, parades, and other items of en- tertainment. The trip is being sponsored locally by the Civitan Club and nationally by the Canadian Automobiles Association.
