Trophies and prizes will be given out to winners courtesy of local mer- chants, industries, ser- vice clubs and_ the Penetanguishene Police Association which organized the event. The competition is designed to be enjoyable while promoting sport- smanship, the rules of the road and safe riding practices. Over 100 riders attended last year's competition and police are hopeful of attracting a similar turnout this year. The competition is difided into two age groups: learners, six to nine-year-olds and ad- vanced riders, 10-13 years. The first prize for both a boy and a girl in the learners section will be a mustang bicycle. The top boy and girl in the advanced riders section will be awarded a 10 speed bicycle. Competitors will be required to take a written and practical test. The practical test basically involves simulated riding conditions set up in the Community Centre. There'll be cross walks, stop lights, caution signs, sharp turns, in short, anything a bicycle rider is likely to see on a real roadway. Applications can be obtained at your school office.
