Contois was charged by Penetanguishene police on February 1, after a complaint was registered against him by a 15-year-old Midland youth. Alfred Babin was stopped for speeding and given a warning _ by Ontario Provincial Police constable Erié Wiese last December 4. Four new members were welcomed into the Institute. Pres. Mrs. Ilene Bell opened the meeting with the Institute Creed. Sec.-Treas. Mrs. Charlotte Jeffris read the minutes and gave the treasurer's report. She announced that she had Purchased Insurance coverage for the Institute Hall. Mrs. Leona Brown read two poems, one called My House and one about the flowers of the seasons. The officers vacated their chairs and nominations for officers for the year 1975-76 were open. They are as follows: President - Mrs. Ilene Bell, Secretary- Treasurer - Mrs. Charlotte Jefferis, 1st Vice Pres. - Mrs. Laurene Taylor, 2nd Vice Pres. - Mrs. Leona Brown, District Directors - Mrs. Tlene Bell and Mrs. Charlotte Gerdes, Sick Committee - Mrs. Hazel Bunton and Mrs. Doris Marshall, Standing Committees and Conveners - Tweedsmuir - Mrs. Dawson, Agricultural and Canadian Industries - Mrs. Leona Brown, Citizenship and World Affairs - Mrs. McKee, - Education and Cultural Activities - Mrs. Mona Duncliff, Family and Con- sumers - Mrs. Jean Brown, Public Relations - Mrs. C. Jefferis. The next meeting will be held on May 21, at the home of Mrs. L. Taylor and the roll call will be telling what you serve for an unexpected company dessert. Also each member is to bring a small article for an auction sale. The Friday afternoon card party will be at the home of Mrs. H. Johnson. The meeting was brought to a close and a light lunch was served. Our hostess showed us the picture of the Swiss Alps that she had painted in oils and is selling tickets on to raise money for the Senior Citizens' Building Fund. Waubaushene is privileged to have several excellent Artists in our little Hamlet. On Saturday, April 12, the Waubaushene Fire Department was called to the home of Don Stewart, on Hazel Street. Extensive smoke damage was suffered to the amount of $20,000. On Monday, April 14, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Waubaushene W.|. meets St. Amand suffered $12,000 damage when it caught fire. At the time of the fire the children were in school and the parents were shopping. They lost everything they owned. They only had the clothes they were'wearing at the time. Any donations of clothing or furniture to help out this family would be appreciated I'm sure. They are staying at the home of Mr. St. Amand's parents.
