Those who have wood skis or wood cored skis should strap the skis base to base, placing a one inch block in the middle. This will assist in maintaining the camber. Store the skis with the tips resting ona hard dry surface to prevent the tips flattening out. Be sure to oil or grease all metal parts to avoid rust. Otherwise, toe and heel bindings may seize and require complete Ski clinic overhauling or replacement next season. Do the same to the steel edges of the skis. Metal and fibreglass skis should be stored, by placing the ski across the rafters of your basement with the top side facing down and only the tip afid tail supported. This will result in the same effect as placing a block of wood between strapped skis. Clothing is generally stored in moth and mildew proof containers. Repair clothing now, saving time and inconvenience next season. Keep all your ski wear together. This way you won't misplace or lose items. Air out ski boots as they have a tendancy to retain moisture. If necessary, remove the inner bladder and dry out thoroughly. It prevents mildew and odour. Keep boots in a press. Most plastic boots today have a steel shank in the base of the sole to prevent warpage, so a boot-press is not imperative in some cases. Place your boots in a cool, dry place. If kept in warm or hot areas, it may affect the shell or padding material of the inner bladder or liner. To prevent the possibility of leakage, I find it helpful to put ski creams etc., in plastic bags. This way, if something should occur, at least it won't ruin your kit- bag or whatever else is in it. When youremove _ the ski rack from the car and find the rubber suction cups have left an undesirable im- pression on the paint,. take some rubbing compound and with a cloth, using rapid motion, remove the discolouration. Afterward, apply car polish or wax to restore the paint. I'm sure you enjoyed the season, even though it got off to a slow start. I would welcome all readers to write in and express their views on the column as well as suggesting what else they may like to see-contained in "Ski Clinie", for next year. Nursery R.R.
