Money for Les Petits Anges school comes through. fees ($12 monthly) and a government grant, which has been approved although the money hasn't arrived yet. When it does, fees will be lowered to $6 a month. Meanwhile, the mothers of the angels raise money to buy equipment and supplies, and to pay the teachers. The operation was begun and initially funded by the Centre D'Activites Franc- aises. Although in only its second year of operation, the nur- sery school is well equipped. There are lots of tricycles for big muscle activities, and an indoor slide, complete with a mattress at the landing point. There are hammers and nails for miniature car- penters, a well equipped Hold skating party Victoria Harbour girl guid by Lorraine Kindy The Victoria Harbour girl guides had a skating party on Jan. 20 and afterwards they were treated to hot chocolate and homemade donuts at Mary Jarman's. Mrs. Helen Robichaud came down and helped the girls to learn steps for a Scottish folk dance. On Jan. 18, 14 members of the Victoria Harbour Legion Dart Club attended the zone dart meet at Orillia. On Jan. 20, the St. John's United Church annual congregational supper was held in the Sunday School room. There was a very good turnout and the record for pie eating was seven pieces. The new members for the church council this year are Mrs. Brenda Rutt, Colin Ashworth, Ray Lohnes, Al Dober and Mrs. Bev. Har- per. Clinton Todd will be the new chairman. The mem- bers discussed an extension of the church and the changing of the church service to a later time. Different reports were heard, and Rev. K. Don starts his new job today at Mitchell, Ontario. We wish Don lots of luck in his new adventure and I for one will miss his smiling face, when I pay my Hydro bill or my tax bill, which I usually grumble about. Both Don and his wife Barb, worked and par- ticipated in most activities in town, and I am afraid it will be a while before their spots are filled by equally dedicated people. Nursery school policies and plans are overseen by a board of directors - Joan Northcott, Roland Desroches, Jane Magnan, Carole Sauve and Joanne jobs that he did for the church and accepted his resignation. Mr. Eplett is moving from the Village to Mitchell. Mrs. Barbara Eplett had a group of ladies in on Jan. 21 to discuss the Victoria and district ladies work periods. The executive of Carol Gerow, Barbara Desroches, Joanne Borley, Bev Hewitt, Brigitte Thomas, and Anna Charron, is planning the first Petit Anges fund raising project - a dance at Midland's Civic Centre (the old Armouries building) on February 7. Tickets for the dance, which features John Coull's PSS Swing Band, are available from Zeller's, Gerow's Flower Bar, Wally's Men's' Wear, Lafontaine Cooperative, Shoppe 27, Ted Light's TV and Le Centre D'Activites Francaises.
