The legislation includes draft regulations that set rea- sonable health and safety stan- dards to protect tenants. It also makes it easier for municipali- ties to conduct inspections to ensure these standards are being met. McCausland turns surplus According to an auditor's report issued by Strawson/ Fukushima/Enstrom Chartered Accountants of Thunder Bay, the McCausland Hospital ran a $103,680 surplus in fiscal 1992, which ended March 31. That's up from a $74,184 surplus in fiscal 1991. The hospital's revenues increased by $354,099 over last year, totaling $4,125,812. Expenses increased by $324,603, and totalled $4,022,132. Donations to the hospital took a big jump in 1992, increasing to a total of $72,482, compared with $18,882 the year before. The Hospital's Annual General Meeting was held June 24 at Schreiber Public School. Rates referred to committee Schreiber Council has decided to ask the Disabled Persons Transit Operating Committee to take another look at rates for the disabled transit bus. The Committee had recom- mended that the rates to and from Rossport be reduced. Its recommendations were initial- ly rejected by Schreiber Coun- cil but passed by Terrace Bay Council. The matter went before Schreiber Councillors again last month, and they decided to refer it back to the Commit- tee, hoping to hear from them again by the end of October.
