Those declaring their sup- port for McLeod include Algo- ma Manitoulin MPP Mike Brown, Kenora's' Frank Miclash, former Minister of Northern Development René Fontaine, past Port Arthur MPP Taras Kozyra, and Thunder Bay Nipigon MP Joe Comuzzi. "Lyn McLeod held ministe- rial portfolios that were crucial to the development of the North," said Mike Brown. "I was always confident that the interests of the North were well represented as long as Lyn had a seat around the Cabinet table." Frank Miclash was impressed with the way McLeod could balance the var- ied interests of the province. "Lyn is a friend to the North as she is a friend to all regions of the province. When she was in cabinet, the concerns of one region were never sacrificed for the interests of another. That's what Ontario is looking for in a Premier," said Mr. Miclash. René Fontaine, who worked with McLeod in the Cabinet from 1987-1990, said that McLeod was a strong voice for the North.
