Many have established their property as a Backyard Wildlife Sanctu- ary. It is their hope that all who feed the birds and enjoy watch- ing the wildlife that visit will become a part of this newly created Backyard Wildlife Sanctuary Program of Ontario. "More than 70 per cent of Ontario residents participate in non-consumptive wildlife activities around their homes and camps. Over the years we have watched a decline in wildlife populations. It is now important that we try to do our part to help," said Judy Sund- land, originator of the program. However, she said the most important qualification for becoming a backyard manager is an attitude of caring and concern for wildlife in their yard. If a person wants to do more for wildlife in their yard, the packet includes hints for additional plants, trees, bird- baths, etc. Nicol Island residents are working towards establishing all their waterfront properties as sanctuaries and along with Rossport residents encourage everyone, living on the water or in town to join. "It's been interesting to watch people join and then remember a relative or friend who enjoys birds and get a packet for them - making a wonderful chain reaction," Sundland said. Specific Duties require Train Service personnel to ride freight trains on the railway's mainline and in the yards. Under strict operating and safety rules, train service personnel operate switches, couple cars, control braking, conduct train inspections and oversee the safe movement of trains, plus other related duties. Train Service is all-weather outdoor shift work. It could require assignment to a location different to where hired and, therefore, being away from home for various lengths of time.
