Last week was National Access Awareness Week which has as its theme Access is a Right. "Disability Action Group congratulates Terrace Bay Council for its efforts, through Township Engineer, Mr. Mikkonen, to remove barriers to the physically handicapped," said Shirley Mikus, president of the Disability Action Group. The Township has provided correctly constructed curb cuts in several places, she said. "We look forward to the time when those curb cuts which are still barriers because they are too short and steep or have raised lips will be reconstructed correctly," she added.
