MINNOVA TO HOST MINE RESCUE COMPETITION On May 7, 8 and 9, 1991 Minnova Inc. will be hosting the 1991 Thunder Bay District Mine Rescue Competition at the Schreiber Arena. Teams from Noranda Inc. Geco Division,Hemlo Gold Mines Inc. Golden Giant Mine, Williams Operating Corp. The Williams Mine, Teck - Corona Operating Corp. David Bell Mine, Macissac Exploration Ltd. and Minnova Inc. Winston Lake Division will be competing for this years championship. The district winner will advance to the Provincial Competition to be held in Windsor next month. The general public is invited to watch (no admission charge) these highly skilled rescue teams don breathing apparatus and work their way through a simulat- ed problem in a mock mine on the arena floor. Competitions begin on May 8, 1991 at 8:00 a.m. and continue for the better part of two days. Approximately 100 people including team members and judges are expected to arrive in Schreiber for this year's competition. fo 4 < After months of hard work of planning, building, creating and rehearsing the students of Lake Superior High School presented their production of the musical Oliver. They gave three performances over the weekend. In the upper right a member of the lighting crew Chris Friedrich, a member Lake Superior High School presented a wonder ful production of Oliver of the lighting crew grabbed a comfortable seat while checking the wiring for lights attached to the back of the basketball backboard.
