Page 15, News, Tuesday, April 16, 1991 Life According to Baba continued from page 5 with a motivational program of putting the photographs of people who still have jobs on the back of milk cartons. The finance minister's office came up with a rosy prediction of the economy in the last quarter of this year but the only one willing to be quoted in the media campaign is THE TOOTH FAIRY. Government economists have stricken the phrase "LAST QUARTER" from all future financial reports due to the fact that most Canadians are now down to theirs. The staffer's in the prime minister's office, who are writ- ing his Throne Speech address are in real trouble. The put in all the things Brian Mulroney wants us to hear but the cen- sors won't give it a NON-FIC- TION RATING. In a dispute over how bad the Canadian industrial stock market really is, Dow kneed Jones right in the commodities index in front of witnesses on Wall Street. Sears are capitalizing on the sad state of financial affairs by introducing the "CANADIAN ECONOMY CHAISE LONGUE," which they claim "actually folds up faster than a lawn chair." In order to cut his budget for cabinet wages, the prime minister is actually encourag- ing other cabinet minister to make gun jokes while clearing airport security. You know the economy is bad when Mike Wallace of 60 Minutes does an investigative piece on how it got to this state, and Micheal Wilson refuses to be interviewed on camera. The truth of the matter is that the federal conservatives have the means to turn around the economy and wipe out the national debt and they could do it within party ranks - all they have to do is put a 7% tax on incompetency. Se ab 84) ayia 5 continued from page 5 A vacation trip once a year anda couple of week-ends could surely be enough time to allocate to these bunny-border- hoppers. Or else they could move to the U.S.A. But if they're going to continue liv- ing in Canada and enjoy Canadian benefits (of which they brag to their American 'cousins'), then let them bear their tax burden along with the rest of us. And the sooner the govern- ment comes up with a real hard-hitting policy with real teeth in it re this billion dollar bonanza for the Americans and a billion dollar tax loss for us Canadians, the happier everybody will be. This way, these bunny-hoppers are help- ing to create more dissension in this country which is up to its collective eye-balls in dis- sensions of all kinds from sea to shining sea.
