Se PTBiy PBy TR: GBS GBS TRY GRY, GR All the World's a Circus Dogs should not be drivers continued from page 5 And that cop will show up with Dexter the rottweiler in charge of the Canine Corps and they'll run the Domino's Pizza delivery lab right the hell out of Wainfleet Township. As I said, I'm very much opposed to dogs driving cars and my biggest fear is - how can we be sure they'll really swerve to avoid hitting cats? In the heat of the moment, they could make it look like an accident. At the very least shouldn't we be registering these dogs in YOUNG DRIVER'S OF CANA- DA schools and training them properly while they're still pup- Pies. Dogs may be having the time of their lives sailing down the road with their heads sticking out the window, but they look really stupid. They look like they trained in a wind tunnel for years to master the act of traveling 100 klicks per hour without goggles and.....watch this one.......without BLINKING. And it's not as if a dog serves a purpose, stuck out the passenger window with his rump in the driver's face. But that's not to say he could- n't. "Okay Spike, here we go...." "RUFF! RUFF!" "That's it boy...two barks for radar and ......... "RUFF!" "One for R.I.D.E." "RUFF! RUFF! RUFF!" "Three! What the hell does "three" mean? Oh, just you never mind about McDonalds, Spike. You do your job and there'll be plenty of kibble when we get home." Dinner Special: $18.95 at Garrity's New Years Eve ull Menu also available. 2 Tickets are available for \ Garritys: New Yeari Bath. Sue "Prime Rib Northern Insights Wish List continued from page 5 Santa you can point that out to those left running CBC television. 8. Bob Rae, Floyd Laughren, Shelly Martel, Howard Hampton, Bud Wildman, Shelly Wark- Martyn and Gilles Pouliot (the important Ontario NDP cabinet ministers who really can change northern Ontario) set aside parti- sanship and set up processes that will allow northerners to reshape our own destinies-- banning stud- ies that lead nowhere, and putting money behind sectoral planning groups made up of northerners. I want you to convince the new government to replace the Northern Development Councils, which have only been a sounding board for government and an expensive way of safeguarding parochial interests. Instead, we need task forces with expertise and resources to lead processes of transformation in forestry, min- ing, transportation, aboriginal relations, family violence, and economic diversification. I have other wishes Santa, but I don't want to be greedy. If you can come through with these, I will be more than satisfied. Besides, I know northerners are really good at analyzing their own Situations and coming up with more wish lists, so I'm sure you will have much longer lists com- ing your way in the years ahead.
