Your "Christmas Tree Light" will give many moments of hope. : Children and Adults may drop into the Hospital Administration Office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, from November 27th to December 14th. On the evening of December 14th, come and see us light the tree that your decoration helped to build! Any and all donations are welcome The Star will be lit by the highest bidder. Schreiber hosted a PeeWee Hockey Tournament last weekend with games played Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. Above is action from Friday night's game between Schreiber and Red Rock. Photo by Dave Chmara Full agenda at McCausland Auxiliary November meeting The Auxiliary to the McCausland Hospital met Nov. 20 with 12 members welcomed by President Margaret Gander. Marg thanked all the members who baked muffins for the Regional Fall Conference in Thunder Bay and their excellent reception in hosting the hospitali- ty. Delegate Vicky Boucher gave a very informative report on the Fall Conference chaired by Elaine Mannisto. The speakers were excellent and included Peter McDonald from Pastoral Care in St. Joseph's Hospital explaining his pastoral care among patients and families. He touched on the sorrow and grief and at times, anger, also his relationship with A.A. and Drug Addiction. Peter also talked on palliative care and dealing with the dying. The second speaker was Elizabeth Hartwick from Northwestern Ontario Arthritis Society. This lady gave a brief history of the disease and its rela- tionship with Lyme disease that we're learning about now. She spoke of the research and treatments available now, and how desperate the need is for more funding for research. She concluded by displaying many items to assist the handicapped to be independent. Committee reports: Three boys and one girl born in the last month at McCausland Hospital. Lifeline will have 13 sub- scribers within the week. A motion was passed to pay the monthly telephone bill for the Lifeline telephone. A sample of the Halloween tray favors was displayed by Vicky Boucher and she gave a detailed report of the Halloween party in the Hospital. She com- mented on the enjoyment of the patients with the children and their teacher on their fine perfor- mance. A lively discussion ensued concerning the upcoming Christmas event for the patients in the hospital. Membership campaign had been completed in Rossport by Maureen Tychoniak with 29 members. Pauline Kidder's report stated not all canvassers had com- pleted their areas in Terrace Bay and Schreiber's campaign under Ann Miller will be completed by the end of the month. _ The Bake Sale and Gingerbread Draw was most suc- cessful and appreciation was extended to all involved. Jeannie Randle will be paint- ing various windows in the hospi- tal in the Christmas motif. Students of the Schreiber Public School will donate art work to decorate the hospital for the Christmas season. December 7 will be the decorating night at the hospital. Details for the Christmas Baking Tray project were final- ized. The deadline date for orders will be December 8 with pick up December 15 by 7 p.m. at 582 Lakeview Drive. She dis- played some craft she had made and literature for ordering posters. Marg's report stated there were some excellent speakers and pre- senters. Everyone of the over 900 attending soon were caught up in the theme "Catch the Theme". There were six concurrent ses- sions to choose from in the morn- ing and seven in the afternoon. Motivation and recognition of volunteers was excellent with many ideas to encourage people to become volunteers. Most of the delegates were very pleased with the entire program giving great praise to the volunteers who orga- nized the entire four-day confer- ence. One statement which stands out is "Smile often - it generates enthusiasm, friendliness and goodwill".
