Pet safety during holidays Christmas is just around the comer and it's time to start think- ing about your pet's safety. Cats can be very bothersome during the holidays. But, if you take a few precautions, your cat will stay out of trouble. When decorating the Christmas tree, keep all the tinsél at the top half. Cats love to eat tinsel, but it is very dangerous since it can cause blockage in the stomach or intestines. Cats also like to chew wires on the tree. Remove the plug at night to a place the cat cannot reach. Christmas presents for your cat or kitten are easy to find. The "Forget-me-Not" store in Rossport has an excellent selec- tion of toys and catnip for your favorite kitty. Our local grocery stores usual- ly have cat food Christmas pack- ages and cat snacks. You can even buy your cat a can of real Tuna for a special treat or give him some of your Christmas turkey. Dogs should be protected at Christmas as well. Keep plants such as Holly (very poisonous berries) and poinsettias out of his reach. When wrapping their presents, available in Schreiber. I do not usually advertise pets for people, but the couple who have these puppies also have a month-old baby which demands most of their attention. These puppies are a mixed breed and have beautiful colors. They will be five weeks old after New Years and will be able to go to selective homes. You must be prepared to treat these puppies with special care, since they will be so young. You must also be able to afford to have them spayed or neutered.
