Theresa Stortini received her Past President's Pin. Certificates of merit were given to Georgette Cebrario, Faye and Jim Figliomeni, Verna Leblanc, Theresa Stortini, Sandy Larivec and Janet Moorey. Beverly Hadland will speak at Holy Angels' Parish centre on Nov. 19 at 7:45 p.m. She is the founder of Straight Talk, a youth counselling service. She will speak on abortion. The minutes of the Septeinber meeting were read by the secre- tary, Helen Jartus, and approved asread. ~ The treasurer's report was given by Pat Guina and approved. Marg McKenna gave the card secretary's report in which she reported sending several get well cards to members in hospital at present. Pat Guina reported 155 mem- berships paid for 1989 and 1990 memberships are available. The misunderstanding con- cerning motorized wheelchairs on the new pathway through Terrace Bay had been explained at the last council meeting. Electric wheelchairs and scooters are defi- nitely allowed on this walk. The E.M.O. list had been updated by Home Care Nurses and the Chimo Club in Schreiber. It is now in the hands of Red Cross Homemakers 'for comple- _tion. Many members had been available to attend a special meet- ing with Beryl Pottcr of the Ontario Action Awareness Association. This remarkable lady proved how tremendously vital a person could be despite the most severe handica)s suffered. Mrs. Potter discussed her goal of alerting the public to the spe- cial needs of the disabled. She strong!y advised never to sit back and accept your fatc, ut to fight to better your lot and that of oth- ers in similar situations. With her vast expericnce she gave good advice on how to be recognized and acknowledged.
