After some discussion, council decided a meeting with a repre- sentative from the fundraising committee should be held in order to determine how the facili- ty will be available for communi- ty use before they decide if such a donation should be made. Council also received a thank you from the McCausland Hospital Auxiliary for a donation of $3,000 towards the Lifeline Project. A request by the Ministry of Transportation for an Airport Master Plan was reluctantly agreed to by council. Council felt funding for future projects may be in jeopardy if the plan, which will cost from $15,000 to $25,000 , was not agreed to. The ministry will pay for 80 per cent of the study. The following people have becn appointed by Terrace Bay Council to the Economic Developinent Steering Committec: Reeve Jim Ziegler, Deputy Clerk Lorne Mitchell, Dennis Burns, Don Lavigne, Mike Moore and representing the Terrace Bay/Schreiber Futures Committee is John Smrke. Schreiber By Dave Chmara Schreiber Council appointed the following people to the Economic Development Steering Committee: Reeve Mike Cosgrove, Jack Stokes and Lynn Hodder. Council is still looking for a new cemetery and is currently considering a site to the west of the old garbage dump (Desrosiers Construction Ltd.) road. Some of the sidewalks in Schreiber will be repaired in the near future. These include ones on Quebec St. by the Mayfair and Columbia St. Council is aware the sidewalks on Brunswick are in need of repair but these repairs may have to wait for next year as other repairs may use up the cur- rent funding. Council has sent a letter to the Ministry of Transportation to speed up their action in putting up no parking signs along the high- way. A total of 16 building permits were issued during the month of June. This brings the dollar total of these permits to $715,875 for 1989. New parking violation tickets have been received by the town and will now be handed out to those individuals who do not pay for parking. These fines may be paid at the municipal office. Fines which are not paid remain on the driver's record and new driving licences are not issued until all past fines have been paid. Tenders will be accepted for two weeks for the paving of the Beach Road from the Golf Club to the beach. The paving is sched- uled to be completed before the end of summer. Council has received requests from four individuals for a cat control by-law. They discussed the matter but as yet have not decided to pass such a by-law. Clerk-Treasurer-Administrator Dave Fulton and Councillor Bill Houston will attend separate workshops on ways to reduce municipal liability. Fulton's work- shop takes place in Scptember while Houston will attend a workshop in August. After considerable discussion about the current lack of office space in downtown Schreiber, and the desired use of property along the highway, council decid- ed to proceed with a change in the permitted use of highway property. Offices will be allowed along the highway once an amendment to the Official Plan and Zoning by-law have been passed by council and circulated according to regulations. If no objections to the changes are received, the amendments will become law. His main interests were his family, home, fish- ing and garden. Survived by his wife Lillian, daughters Melody Bartels of Kenora and Karen at home. Also survived by grandchildren Christopher and Corey, brothers Mike, Max, Paul and Eric; sisters Eileen, Agnes and Pearl; nieces and nephews also survive. Predeceased by his father, mother and brother Walter. Resting at Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church, Schreiber from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday.
