The Mixed Slowpitch League will be holding a meeting in order to elect the 1989 executive on Monday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Recreation Complex. Anyone interested in running for an exec- utive position or if you are simply interested in mixed slowpitch then please attend this meeting. National Coaching Certification Program LEVEL I - The deadline for registration is Tuesday, April 11th. This course is limited to 20 participants and is scheduled for April 14, 15, and 16. LEVEL II - The deadline for régistrations is Tuesday, April 18th and this course is also limit- ed to 20 persons. The classes are © scheduled for April 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, and 30. If you are interest- ed in either of these clinics then call the recreation office at 824- 2317. omin ial Events Rolling Thunder - is a play being sponsored by the local recreation department and the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation. It will be held at the High School gym on Tuesday, June 13th in the afternoon. This play is aimed at children from grade 3 and up as well as adults. It will be offered to the public free of charge. Board Sailing - the Ontario Sailing Association will be con- ducting a Board Sailing Clinic at White Sand Beach on July Sth. No experience is necessary and they will supply all the necessary equipment. Classes will be held in the morning, afternoon and evening. There will be a limit of 12 persons in each class. This is being offered as a free course through the BOON Program. All equipment and boats will be pro- vided free of charge. Final dates have not yet been confirmed. For more information contact the recreation office. Upcoming Plays The recreation department will be co-sponsoring two plays with the Library and the local school boards this spring. One titled Thin Ice and the other Not so Dumb. Thin Ice will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the High School gym on Tuesday, May 16. This play is geared for High School students. Photo by Dave Chmai A basic refrigeration course was held March 26, 27, 28 with participants from Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Thur Bay, Ignace, Wawa, Nipigon and Marathon taking part. The course was taught by Doug Poulin, Thunder supervisor of arenas with the Thunder Bay Parks and Recreation, who has 25 years experience. The course cov: subjects such as Start-up, shut down, trouble shooting and Zamboni operation just to name a few. The Townshi Terrace Bay and the Ontario Arena's Association sponsored the course.
