Paige 12) News, Wednesday, December 21, 1988 Schreiber Recreation News Gymnastics We are now in a position to offer a gymnastics program in Schreiber and Terrace Bay. The program will have to be run out of the high school in Terrace Bay due to storage space. We must set this club up as an organization similar to minor hockey, ringette etc... with it's own executive in order to oper- ate. If you are interested in helping out please contact the recreation office in either Schreiber at 824- 2317 or Terrace Bay at 825-3542 and leave your name and phone number. We are also taking names for participants. The program will be open to children ages 3 and up. Winter Carnival The schedule for the Winter Carnival is near completion. If any- one has an idea or wishes to get involved you are asked to contact the recreation co-ordinator. The carnival will be held from February 3rd to 12th, 1989 and many excit- ing events have been planned. NCCP Level I and Il Theory Clinics We need more registrants for these clinics if they are to be held in our community. The Level ] clinic is scheduled for late January (dates to be decided by majority of registrants) and the Level II clinic is scheduled for late February. If you are interested in either of these courses please contact the recre- ation office as soon as possible. Ladies Only Fitness and Weight Training Program If you are interested in joining a "Ladies Only" instructional pro- gram in the new year, then this is the program for you. This will be a 8 week program commencing on January 10 and run Tuesday evenings from 8:00 to 9:0 0 p.m. If you wish more information please contact the recreation office. Space is limited so register early. Aerobics We are presently taking registra- tions for the aerobic session start- ing January 10. Classes will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the recre- ation centre under the instruction of Louise Boileau. Space is limited so register early. Learn to Skate The recreation department will be offering a Learn to Skate pro- gram commencing on January Oth. Classes are held Monday and Thursdays in the morning from 10:00 to 11:00, or in the afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00. Space is limited to 15 participants in each class so register and avoid disappointment. Christmas Ice Schedule Please not that during the holi- days Shinny Hockey will take place at the arena each morning from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon and pub- lic skating each afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Helmets must be worn by all participants in the Shinny Hockey. Regular practices will take place in the evenings. Holiday Closures The recreation complex will be closed during the holidays on the following days. Saturday, Dec. 24 - 4 p.m. close Sunday, Dec. 25 - Closed Monday, Dec. 26 - Closed Saturday, Dec. 31 - 4 p.m. close Sunday, Jan. 1 - Closed Please not the recreation office will be closed all day December 26 and 27 and January 2.
