We are open each Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The weekly hours remain the same and are from 10 a.m. to noon, and from 1p.m. to 5 p.m. five days per week. On Tuesday and Thursday evenings, the library is open from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Summer reading Club "Dig In" had a total of 32 children register this year. We celebrated the final meeting with a party. Children received prizes and certificates for their reading efforts and for meeting attendance requirements. Mrs. Harumi Rioux demon- Strated the art of Origami to the children at the party. Storytime for 3- and 4-year- olds will begin Oct.19.Children must be pre-registered for this programme. Talking Books This is a new and extremely popular phenomenon; the book on tape or talking tape is being lis- tened to purely for pleasure. People who love them say there's nothing like spending a whole day in a car with a master storyteller. New additions to the library include: the Fatal Shore; Trump, the Art of the Deal; Company of Adventures; Spycatcher; Alaska, and many more. By Teresa Stortini Our Biggest Zucchini in Schreiber Contest was a huge suc- cess. The winner, Joan LeBlanc, won a book on gardening and a dinner at Serendipity Gardens. Her entry weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces. The Summer Children's Story Hours held the last session of the season on Thursday, Sept. 1. A party was held and the children enjoyed juice and cupcakes. The highlight of the.afte:xnoon was the breaking of the Pinata, which was filled with goodies. Assistant Librarian Louise Stefurak, summer _ student Suzanne Currie and library spare Kathy Wiseman enjoyed the Summer Story Dinosaur program as well as the children. St. Martin of Tours C.W.L. held their regular monthly meet- ing on Sept. 12. The meeting opened with League Prayer. Marg Roberts read Psalm 100 for the Scripture Reading. Minutes of the previous meet- ing held in June as well as the treasurer's report were read by Marilyn in Diane's absence. The following correspondence was read by Sharyn: a thank-you letter from Sister Ruth in Kenora for all the boxes of used clothing sent for the Indian Missions; a letter from Margaret Tipping for the donation sent to the Holy Childhood, the monies of which were collected by C.W.L. mem- bers arid St. Martin's School chil- dren. The Convenor's Report was given by Marg Roberts. Kerry Irwin won the Cook Book Draw at the Fall Fair, and a farewell gift had been given to Pat McKie. Marilyn presented the Bibles to the Grade 8 graduating class of St. Martin's School. The Bibles St. Martin of Tours C.W.L. planning October bazaar are given by the parish and the League. Marilyn also reported that a cheque will be sent for the Works of Mother Teresa, which was raised by special projects. The regional Tour will be held in Schreiber on Oct. 3. Watch the bulletin for details. Luigina will be ordering more of the Catholic Cook Books, so keep in touch her. Plans for a bazaar on Oct. 22 are well underway. Evelyn Falzetta has replaced Mary Rose Leydon who has moved. Maureen Running will be guest speaker at our Oct. 17 meet- ing. Members are invited to par- ticipate in the Living Rosary in Schreiber's Holy Angels Parish on Oct. 2. Father Campbell said there will be a Prayer Vigil in November for the 100th Anniversary of Christianity com- ing to the Ukraine. The meeting closed with prayers and Father's blessing.
