€ a "8 ,2 =] = Page 16, News, Wednesday, August 24, 1988 Police look for arsonist On January 3, 1988, at about 1:15 a.m., a private residence situ- ated on Wenonah Drive in the town of Manitouwadge was entered. Entry was gained by kicking the rear door, and once inside the cul- prits made their way to the kitchen area of the residence. A plastic 5- gallon gas can was placed by the kitchen stove. The persons responsible then saturated a bedspread with gasoline and draped it over the elements on the left-side of the kitchen range. An electric toaster was placed on top of the stove to hold the bedspread in place, and all four stove elements were tured on. The culprits then left the residence. The ensu- ing fire caused extensive damage to . both the residence and its contents. The explosion was so intense that an entire wall of the residence was displaced some 6 inches. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as the owner of the resi- dence was away at the time. To date, no arrests have been made.
