G.H. of Thunder Bay Dear G.H.: There are several things I would like you to seriously consider: 1. Do you trust this person? If you do not trust - entering into a partnership would be most unwise. 2. With the help of a lawyer, draw up a buy/sell agreement. In other words, arrange the conditions of your divorce before you get mar- ried. 3. Does this person have the same work ethic as you? If you find him/her lazy or he/she finds you lazy, you will have real prob- lems. Check on this if you can. 4. Set out very specific respon- sibilities and authorities for each of you with as little overlap as possi- ble, and then BUTT out of the other persons business except at a Partnership, Shareholders or Directors meeting. 5. This exercise is a must: a) Each one of you make a list of all things to spend money on in this business. b) Put both lists together, elimi- nating duplications and make two copies of this master list. c) Each one of you rank the list into priorities as you see it. d) Present your priorities to each other and argue it out. If you can work this out, with- out coming to blows, you gota chance. Good luck. If I can be of more specific help, write me again or call me at your convenience. If you have any questions you would like to address to Mr. Ed Ryynanen, you may contact hime at: 905 Victoria Ave., E. P.O. Please accept and convey my very best wishes for success in these projects to all those con- cerned with excellence in educa- tion.
