Page 2, News, Wednesday, March 30, 1988 Winnie Campbells' by Winnie Campbell CHIMO Meeting The March meeting of the Chimo club was attended by 22 members and one guest, Mr. Pat Herlihy from Sudbury, and was presided over by past-president Beth Macadam. The minutes of previous meet- ing were read by the Secretary, Helen Jartus, and approved. Also, the financial report by Treasurer Pat Guina was approved as read. Considerable correspondence was dealt with including granting permission to the Girl Guides to use the Chimo Club as.a distribu- tion centre for their cookie sale on Wednesday, April 20, from 6.00 - 8.00 pm. The Community Development Program is holding a workshop program in Terrace Bay on April 7 and volunteers will be contacted to attend. This is for the purpose of fund- ing and implementing a Handi- Transit Service. The Recreation and Parks com- mittee director notified us that seniors having functions at the Rec Centre would be allowed a 50 per cent discount. This does not include functions where liquor is served. The secretary was to write let- ters to the U.S.C.O. and other members of the government protesting th projection of a sales tax on food. The North Shore Family Resource Centre officers will attend our May meeting for a pre- sentation and discussion. Members are invited to the the- atre in Terrace Bay on March 30 to see the film "Three Men and:a Baby." A list will be posted on the bulletin board for members to sign if they plan to go on the bus. Birthdays for March were cele- brated by the following: Helen Wallace, Marg Gerow, Jeanne Huard, Etta Gray, Mel Webb and Eileen Winters. Prizes were won by : Bob Fournier, Marg Nesbitt, Pat Guina, Pat Herlihy and Etta Gray. Following the meeting, Fred Harness showed an interesting film on the National Park at Pukaskwa, Scribbles / which was enjoyed by all. After a delicious lunch served by the members, shuffleboard was played. Winners included: Etta Gray and Marg McKenna Ist and Mel and Tom Webb 2nd. Bridge winners were Pat Guina and Eileen Winters. Prizes were awarded to the lady and gent wearing the most green for St. Patrick's Day, and went to Beth Macadam and Fred Harness. The next general meeting will be on April 15. Miss Karen Crowe, Executive Assistant of the Northwestern Ontario CAT scan Fund will be in Schreiber on Wednesday, March 23. She will speak at the Chimo Club to the members: and display bulletins, etc. in preparation for the CAT scan canvass that the mem- bers will be doing shortly. "In Memoriam" cards will also be available for public use. Mr. and Mrs. B. Webb have returned from Las Vegas. Get well in the hospital Mrs. Todesco, Mrs. Jean Stitt and Maybelle Furlonger. Our card playing friends did not come this week and they were sore- ly missed by our Bridge playing residents, but we hope they will be able to come next week. On the 24th, we had our month- ly Birthday party, which was host- ed by the Auxiliary to the SHOWER There will be a "COME AND GO" ~ shower in honour of Darlene Parent, bride elect of Michael Bourguignon of Schreiber, in the Anglican Church basement on April 6, 1988 from 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. _ EVERYONE IS WELCOME McCausland Hospital. We had a delightful visit from the Sr. Kindergarten class from the public school. They sang and did a cute dance tor our "Birthday kids," who were Rita Gaffney, Pam Waghorn, Spencer Wilson, ANgus Mishquart and William Schelling. On behalf of all the residents, I would like to thank the Auxiliary Ladies for coming, and thank you to Mrs. Sandi Taylor and her class. We hope to see all of them again some time; it made the day brighter. I guess the winter sports are soon coming to an end and summer sports will soon take over.
