Plan to Rossport theatre group getting ready For those who-have been fortu- nate to grab a ticket for "The Hand that Cradles the Rock," it's time to let you know a little more about the play and those involved. The play is an adult comedy about a writer and his wife who is also an*interior decorator. While she is gone off closing deals, he stays home and takes care of the baby. It's a role reversal and one that the ladies will particularly enjoy. Dave Speer is helping to prove the popular theory that politicians are great actors. Dave, the former reeve of Terrace Bay, is making his acting debut with the Rossport Theatre Group. He plays the lead- ing man, Ross Cameron. Although this is his first time on stage, he has theatre in his blood. His mother was an actress with the Little Theatre group in his home- town of Tora, Ontario. Four broth- ers and two sisters, some of whom are still performing, were also members. ; An engineer with CP Rail, Dave has lived on Nicol Island with his wife Brigette for three years. He admits his ego is part of the reason for becoming involved with the play, but mainly it's his desire to be part of community events that made him step forward. Originally, he wanted to help with lighting; however, it was soon apparent he that was destined for bigger things. So, in addition to the hard work of memorizing lines, Dave will help with lighting and set design. Shirley Vienot recently celebrat- ed her first anniversary of life.in Rossport and enjoys the slow pace and peacefulness of the village. A registered nurse with a B. They started with a small one-room log cabin and have transformed it into a beautiful home on the shores of Lake Superior. Her newest project is Rossport's first production of "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle". She portrays Beattie Cooper, mother of Alexandra. Bille-Jo enjoys the the- atre and, until now, has only been involved in behind-the-scenes activities. As a member of her high school drama club, she painted back-drops and was part of the chorus in "H.M.S. Pinafore." Billie-Jo has stepped into her first acting role with enthusiasm. attend.
